Nanny Employment

You have a passion for children

And so do we! There is an undeniable bond that forms while caring for little ones and there is nothing comparable. Sure, caring for children can be hard work but we do it because we love it. We want to meet you if you know the joy that comes with caring for children.

No up-front fees to you

We take care of all of the screening costs. There is no charge to you when we place you with a Family.

Fair & competitive compensation

No minimum wage here. We value your work as a Nanny and do not believe in a "one size fits all" pay rate, but rather a wage that is reflective of the work you do for your Family. We work hard to create a customized Work Agreement for each one of our Nannies and negotiate the details of your employment with Families from sick days to vacation time and more. Benefits are not required to be offered to a West Michigan Nanny but we strongly advocate for them for all of our Nannies, especially our full-timers.

Nanny Referral and On-Call Bonuses

We offer bonuses to our Nannies for any referrals they make and on-call shifts they work.  Ask about our Bonus Program and how you can become eligible today!

FAQs

1I am interested in working with West Michigan Nannies. How can I apply?
We are always accepting applications for great Nannies to team up with as families can contact us at anytime with childcare needs. To apply, download an application from our website and email it to us with a current resume. It can be helpful to include your general availability as well.
2I completed the application but need help uploading it so that I can email it with my resume. What can I do?
We understand many of you are on the go or simply may not have access to a printer with scanning capabilities. Employment Applications and any other documentation you might need to submit can be scanned and saved to your phone or tablet where you can then email to WMN to submit. There are several apps out there in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store that you can download for free and scan documents using the camera on your mobile device. We recommend using Google Drive on your Android or iOS device. You can Google instructions on how to scan using Drive or you can contact us and we would be happy to send you a more detailed set of instructions.
3I submitted my application and resume. What’s next?
If there is job available that matches your availability as well as the family’s childcare needs, we will contact you to schedule an interview. We begin by conducting an important, but brief phone interview where we can confirm your availability and childcare experience and ask a few preliminary questions relating to the information provided on your application and resume. It is also a good time to ask us any questions that you might have. Our goal is to determine if you are a qualified candidate to move forward in the interviewing process. Next and almost concurrently, we schedule an in-person interview that is aimed to learn more about your experience and skills and begin the process of reaching out to your references that you have provided. If you move past the interview and reference check phase, with your consent, we will start our background checks. Pending the results of the screenings, we will set up a Meet & Greet to take place with you and your prospective Family. This opportunity allows for both Nannies and Families to confirm that the right Nanny Match has been made. Lastly, you will meet with West Michigan Nannies for Orientation where you can expect to review the Employee Handbook, new hire paperwork, and Work Agreements. At this point, you will receive an expected start date for your new position as a West Michigan Nanny!
4Can I work part time or full time and provide on-call or back-up care?
Yes! You may choose to work only PT or FT and decide that is enough and works well for you. On the other hand, you may work PT and choose to pick up on-call or back-up care shifts as they become available. Nanny positions can vary and fluctuate as the childcare needs of parents and families change. Maybe there are a few weeks you want to be available to pick up extra shifts but other weeks where you wouldn’t. We are happy to work with your schedule and find a position that works well for you and you can update your availability with us on an ongoing basis.
